Road Map

Road Map

Post-release roadmap

This isn’t listed in any order, but it’s things I would love to continue working on if the game is supported well.

  • ‘Competitve Modes’ The game was built from a single-player first prototype that introduced co-op because I wanted to play with my friends. In the original scope there were no plans for any kind of competitive game mode.

But I also want these game modes to work solo as well. So you can play against NPC opponents

  • Major SFX and Sound Improvements The game is VERY quiet at the moment. And the sound design is bad. No sugar-coating. It’s not good. At all.

It would awesome to just vastly improve the immersiveness of the sound. Like something as simple as hearing something that is far away, and it getting louder as it gets closers (I know basic stuff), but I’ve not had time to really dig into how games make that audio experiences seem so ’normal’ that you don’t even think about the fact that it was coded to be that way. Seriously think about how much environmental sounds exist in most games, but you don’t really pay attention to it because it’s so good it just feels natural. I’d love to bring just a hint of that immersiveness into RLZ.

  • Progression and Levelling (Using the FFXIV, Weekly Challenges, WoW Trading Post, You get Currency As A Reward)

  • An Economy of Sorts

(I would like to improve the downtime, the game is fun, but for a game where looting is an objective there’s not much to spend the loot on. However, as the game started as a prototype and was essentially more of an experiment, building ‘an economy’ into the game wasn’t a part of the original scope. And by ’economy’ I mean just like any game where you do things to get ‘gold’ and that ‘gold’ is used to buy items and upgrades and yadada. Now not every game needs an economy, you don’t exactly buy things in Mario, well actually no in Odyssey you buy like hats and stuff with coins… ANYWAY, next point, next point.)

  • Weaponry/Ways to Defend yourself

If you’ve seen the (https://youtu.be/gvsQb3KRvXs)[Real-Life 1 vs 100] video, [https://youtu.be/thR8qOgxGto](Real-Life Mario Kart) and [https://youtu.be/NYhvbnVsK_I](Real-Life Battle Royal) videos you’ll know I already have experience with dabbling with ‘weaponry’ in a game like this. Unfortunately, they kinda sucked, in my opinion. Not too many people have seen those videos, or experienced the gameplay so maybe I’m wrong. But, in RLZ I really don’t want to break the flow up. If you have to stop and start every second, to look at your phone to take a shot, it just seems too… antithetical. However, I do have an idea I would like to try. If you’re astute enough you might spot it in one the videos linked above, but I don’t want to spoil it.

  • Crew Management / Dispatch Mode

  • Companions

  • Improved Monetization Options

This project started development during the latter half of last year and we’ve finally reached a point where we are ready to begin playtesting.
